The Richard L. Schilsky Cancer and Leukemia Group B Achievement Award recognizes outstanding contributions while honoring the legacy of the Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB). Presented to investigators whose leadership, scientific accomplishments, and dedication have made a lasting impact on the organization, the award celebrates excellence in collaborative clinical research.
Honoring scientific excellence
Established in 2010 in recognition of Dr. Schilsky’s 15 years of service as CALGB Group Chair, the award honors a legacy of visionary leadership, scientific innovation, and commitment to advancing cancer research. Recipients exemplify the spirit of collaboration, mentorship, and scientific excellence that continues to define the Alliance and its mission to improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.
Who can be nominated?
While all Alliance members may submit nominations, nominees are typically individuals whose leadership, service, or scientific contributions have strengthened the organization over many years. Because the award is intended to recognize the Alliance’s “unsung heroes,” colleagues currently serving in major leadership roles (such as Disease or Modality Committee Chairs or Program Directors) are generally not considered for nomination.
