The Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology combines scientific leadership with organizational excellence to operate one of the largest cancer clinical research networks in North America. Guided by internationally recognized physician-scientists and research leaders from leading academic medical centers and comprehensive cancer centers, the Alliance brings together expertise across oncology disciplines to identify research priorities, foster innovation, and ensure every clinical trial is supported by rigorous scientific and operational oversight.
Leadership is intentionally collaborative. The Board of Directors provides strategic governance and organizational oversight, while the Executive Committee helps shape the Alliance’s scientific priorities, policies, and operational direction. Together, they ensure the Alliance remains focused on conducting research with the greatest potential to improve patient care.
The Alliance’s scientific vision is led by the Group Chair and Principal Investigator, who works closely with the Program Principal Investigators to guide the five integrated programs that drive the organization’s research network—from clinical trial operations and statistics to translational research, cancer control, and procedure-based therapy. Committee Chairs provide leadership for the disease- and discipline-based committees where research concepts are developed, refined, prioritized, and advanced into clinical trials.
Supporting every stage of this work is a dedicated administrative team. Working alongside scientific leaders, the Alliance team of professionals provide the operational expertise that enables the Alliance’s research network to function. This includes everything from protocol development, regulatory coordination, and quality assurance to finance, communications, membership, and meeting management. Their work allows investigators to focus on advancing science and helping patients while ensuring studies are conducted efficiently, consistently, and with the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Through continuous strategic planning and scientific prioritization, leaders evaluate emerging opportunities, encourage multidisciplinary collaboration, and focus resources on studies with the greatest potential to transform clinical practice.
