Patient Advocacy

Patient partners–shaping the future of cancer research together

At the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, patient partners are more than participants in our work, they are essential members of our research team.

Many of our patient partners are people living with or beyond cancer. Others are caregivers whose first-hand experiences have given them valuable insight into the challenges patients and families face. Although their experiences differ, they share a common goal: improving cancer research and the clinical trial experience for future patients.

By bringing the patient perspective directly into the research process, patient partners help ensure our studies address questions that matter most to patients. They work alongside our physicians, researchers, and other experts to improve study design, informed consent materials, patient communications, and other aspects of clinical trials, helping make research more patient-centered while advancing new treatments for cancer.
